Save-A-Pet is in dire need for new water spigots in our canine kennels!
These new spigots are essential for our dogs so they can receive the proper water they need and continue to live a healthy life here at Save-A-Pet until they find their forever home.
These spigots are used for daily spot cleaning and filling water bowls for our kennels. Without raising the funds for these new functional spigots in our kennels, Canine Care would be spending most of their time either running a hose from a sink somewhere or a spigot outside and bringing the hose down the hall which would need to be rolled up after each kennel (we have 82 kennels). Even more time consuming, is having to lug water bowls back and forth from the kitchen to each kennel (we usually have 35-40 water bowls to fill up multiple times a day).
These spigots also provide the most efficient means to clean the kennels for our dogs. We have our pressure washer system for high pressure washing and the hoses hooked to these spigots can be used for quick clean ups, cleaning kuranda beds, etc.
In addition, when our dogs are spending time in their kennels waiting for their forever person to see them, sometimes they do some silly things like put their food into their water, spill it despite our best efforts to secure the bowl, swim in it, dig in it, or even...well let's just say that some extra creative dogs and puppies may treat it like a toilet on occasion... With that, our staff needs a way to quickly clean and refill water bowls/buckets in a timely manner. Without access to these hose spigots within each of our kennels, the amount of time spent refilling water each day would be unreasonable. We would much rather spend that time taking dogs out, grooming them, running play groups, working on behavior modification, kennel enrichment programs and, of course, meeting potential adopters and finding our dogs' forever homes. ALL of these other tasks lessen the length of stay for each of our dogs and, when one goes home, we are able to take another in!
Having easy access to water from hose spigots play's a large part in increasing our life saving abilities!
This expense for new spigots is around $4,500 to cover the product and installation. It is vital that we get these bills covered so that we can continue to offer our animals the greatest opportunity at a second chance.
