Doggone Fun Park Challenge!
Help us fund the remodel of our current dog play area, affectionately known as “the Sand Pit.”
The current play structures were built for the enrichment of Save-A-Pet shelter dogs by volunteers. At one time they were “state of the art” pieces but over time, many of our larger structures have deteriorated through years of wear and tear. Also, this area is completely open to the elements, making it uncomfortable for dogs and people in inclement and very hot weather.
We need:
•Play Equipment - New structures will challenge our canine residents and make it a fun space for them to play, exercise and socialize while meeting prospective adopters.
•Shade/Weather Protection – Permanent canopies will allow us to hold more outdoor training sessions and keep everyone comfortable during playtime, interactions and adoption meetings.
•Seating – The staff and volunteers who take the dogs out to play or for an interaction need a place to sit to talk to prospective adopters while the dogs run, play and climb.
With these improvements, we will be able to better use this area for our dog playgroups. Playgroups bring a level of exercise and social interactions that cannot occur with the standard dog walker/dog activities. In addition, playgroups provide opportunities for enrichment, assessment, training, and behavior modification.
Donations totaling approximately $31,000 are needed to complete the project.
Two generous donors will match the first $5,000 in donations!
